A Mixed-Use Tower at the Corner of Ome-Kaido
D Tower Nishi-Shinjuku rose at the corner of Ome-Kaido Avenue and Koen-dori in Nishi-Shinjuku 6-chome, completing in April 2020 as a 29-story, approximately 132-meter tower with a total floor area of roughly 39,461 m². Developed by Daiwa House Industry, the building packs office space, a 126-unit serviced apartment wing, retail floors, and a daycare facility into one structure — an approach that makes work-life proximity tangible in the heart of Tokyo’s busiest business district.
The serviced apartment component distinguishes the tower from a standard office high-rise. Designed to accommodate both domestic and international long-stay residents, each unit comes fully furnished with kitchen appliances, furniture, and home electronics. The office floors, with a standard-floor area of about 307 tsubo (roughly 1,015 m²), are designed for large-scale tenants; seismic isolation and emergency generators address business continuity. A daycare facility on-site signals the developer’s intent to serve working parents. The building underwent a renovation in 2023, reflecting the tower’s ongoing adaptability to changing tenant needs.
Part of the West Shinjuku Skyline
West Shinjuku has hosted Japan’s earliest cluster of skyscrapers since the 1970s subcenter development plan, and D Tower has taken a measured place in that lineage. Its 29-story height is modest compared to the 50-plus-floor towers nearby, yet its programmatic density compensates: a rare quality among landmark-seeking high-rises. The plain, functional facade focuses attention on what happens inside rather than on external spectacle.
Summary
Completed in April 2020, D Tower Nishi-Shinjuku is a 29-story, approximately 132-meter mixed-use tower by Daiwa House Industry. It combines office, serviced apartment, retail, and childcare uses in one building — a compact model of urban life well suited to contemporary Tokyo. Walking along Ome-Kaido in west Shinjuku, you will find this tower quietly anchoring a corner where everyday life and urban infrastructure converge.
