The Latest Chapter in Nihonbashi’s Long Renewal

Completed on 28 March 2019, Nihonbashi Muromachi Mitsui Tower stands 26 floors and approximately 141 metres tall in the heart of the Muromachi district, a short walk from Mitsukoshimae Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza and Hanzomon lines. The tower is the latest in a sequence of large-scale developments Mitsui Fudosan has carried out in Nihonbashi since the early 2000s — a continuous effort to transform the area from a weekday-only business district into a destination that draws visitors across the week.

The lower floors house COREDO Muromachi Terrace, which opened in September 2019. Among its tenants was Eslite Spectrum, a Taiwanese bookshop and lifestyle retailer making its first appearance outside Taiwan, bringing book stalls alongside food, craft goods, and a café. That single tenant drew considerable attention and shifted the tone of the complex toward a cultural-commercial hybrid that differed from the earlier COREDO Muromachi 1–3 buildings. The upper floors are office space, with a direct underground connection to the station and to the surrounding network of Mitsui Fudosan’s Nihonbashi buildings.
