Completed in January 2005, the Tokyo Shiodome Building is a 37-story mixed-use tower in the Shiodome Sio-Site development. Developed jointly by Mori Trust and Sumitomo Realty, it stacks retail, offices, and the 290-room Conrad Tokyo hotel across a total floor area of around 191,000 square metres.

A Mixed-Use Tower at the Southern End of Shiodome

In January 2005, a 37-story mixed-use skyscraper was completed in the D North block of Shiodome Sio-Site in Minato City, Tokyo. The Tokyo Shiodome Building — developed jointly by Mori Trust and Sumitomo Realty — stands approximately 172 metres tall with a total floor area of around 191,394 square metres. Yasui Architects & Engineers led the design, with Takenaka Corporation participating in both design and construction.

The facade consists of vertical glass curtain-wall panels, giving the tower a composed, orderly silhouette within the varied Shiodome skyline. Three distinct uses are layered vertically: the lower floors house the Pedi Shiodome retail zone, the middle section contains office space, and floors 28 to 37 are occupied by Conrad Tokyo — a luxury hotel under the Hilton portfolio that opened in July 2005 with 290 rooms.

Office, Retail, and Hotel in a Single Volume

Conrad Tokyo occupies the building’s uppermost ten floors, with its elevated position offering views towards Tokyo Bay and Hamarikyu Gardens. As an internationally recognised luxury hotel in the heart of central Tokyo, it draws both business travellers and visitors from abroad. The office floors below accommodate a range of tenants suited to a district already defined by broadcasting, advertising, and communications companies.

Four basement levels serve parking and logistics. Shiodome Station on the Toei Oedo Line and the Yurikamome is virtually at the building’s entrance, and JR Shinbashi is walkable. Together with the neighbouring Nittele Tower and the Dentsu headquarters, the Tokyo Shiodome Building represents a key element of the early-2000s transformation of this former freight yard into one of Tokyo’s most distinctive business and hospitality districts.
